Estate Sale Shopping Tips from a Lifelong Treasure Hunter
The best way to find great deals at our sales is to join the 180 Estate Sales email list and opt in to early access. After that, show up prepared, be respectful of the home, and come back on discount day for deals.
I've been a treasure hunter my whole life, so this page is for my people.
1. Get on the list
Our mailing list announces sales before the public. Opt in to early access for any sale you like, and you get in one day before the sale opens to the public. We also post every sale on Craigslist and Facebook.
2. Know the schedule
Check upcoming sales for dates, hours, address, and photos. Scan the QR code at our register to join our Mailing List and hear about the next sale (and early access) first.
3. Bring the right stuff
- Payment: we accept all forms of payment.
- Tape measure, bags or boxes, and a friend with a truck if you're after furniture
- A flashlight for garages and sheds
4. When to go
- First day, first hour: the best selection.
- Day 3 (discount day): the best prices. Depending on the sale, that can mean dollar pricing, 50% off, free items, or a mix.
5. Pricing
Prices are set fairly from the start, and day 3 brings the discounts.
6. Etiquette
- Respect the home. A family may be grieving.
- Don't block driveways or neighbors' mailboxes.
- If you're holding something, pay for it or put it back.
- Large items: you have two days to pick them up, and our team will help you load. Delivery is available for an additional fee.
What we find
Tools, jewelry, vintage china, cameras, electronics, video games, furniture, and lots more. See the kinds of treasures we find.
Shopping garage and yard sales too?
Estate sales are where a whole house is for sale, usually with much more variety than a weekend yard sale. Our sales cover Carson City, Reno, Carson Valley, Lake Tahoe, and beyond.
